Usability, Experience, and Evaluation Study/Notes/Nicholas
Appearance
Parul's Notes
- doesn't see toolbar
- comments (like reddit) as reputation
Nimish's and Hannes's Notes
Contributes reviews
NTOC:
- "under the 'hide contents'"
- -> maybe the label should be 'contents (hide)'?
- understands ntoc immediatly
Insert External Link
- tries ref sources (at the bottom of the page)
- guide: "scroll up, see the toolbar?" toolbar doesn t attract Nicholas
Assumes the "select text" functionality
Looks up external page to a wiki page
Internal Link
- opens dialog, but seems to think that its worong
- --> doesn t see/ read "to a wiki page"
- ref icon (mouse overs the ref-icon, while checking the toolbar for a function to add a link)
- "this will take me to the bottom"
- "doesn't look like I can do it that easily" (refs)
Insert a reference
- "no idea"
- "Cancel" -> expected undo
- Found preview eventually, preferred it to 'trial and error'
- preview confusing -> hit edit in preview to edit
Discussion page
- -> no idea what's there
Infobox
- Infobox: need section level, definitely!
- clicks section edit underneath the infobox (which belopngs to the section noit to the infobox)
- finds the capsule, opened it - thinks - and cancled!! (d'oh)
- --> didn t recognized the content. "I dont think it was that obvious"
- --> would be much better,if the popup uses more vertical space (like 80% of the browser-window)
- --> problem of titling and labels(?)
- section edit found immediately
Add a section
- did not find/ use "advanced" (naming issue? or visually not atttractive enough?)
- guidance to use advanced: doesn t use headings
- "I would search a sections that has a subsection and than copy it"
- --> succeeds this way
- recurring theme: people keep associating 'section' with the way it looks as opposed to a logical structure (IE try to indent and bold over deliniating subsection)
Insert table
- managed pretty well
Create New Page
- searches top navi (mouseovers the watch-star, reads tooltip)
- searches for help on the mainpage, find tutorial for editing
- clicks his way though several help pages, without success
Overall/ Resumee
- "pretty intimedating at first"
- toolbar was helpfull "once that I found it"
- would like to "gain reputation" for contributing
