Parul's Notes

  • has edited once - light rail system
  • i'm going to ignore this, but i'm intrigued.
  • i've only logged in once, so i can't say this is different than when i did it before (maybe 6 weeks)
  • not adding something - i think it's a new engtry - she had searched and it said it wasn't there.
  • was wondering if it was just looking for the page title and not looking for that phrase in the body of the entry - looking for the search.
  • clicks on advanced search, searching for content within that article. maybe put it in quotes. someone else might have a different name for it
  • i'm still not certain that there's not some stub article.
  • nothing below the search results when it asks me to check the search results below
  • searches for more specific? goes through the motions of checking for an article. noe valley google shuttle
  • nothing changed on this page.
  • keeps searching because she seems convinced that it must be there
  • creates this page from the link there.
  • grayed out but i don't understand why - it means i've just been there.
  • this is a little confusing.....lots of information
  • this is asking more of me than i want to give at the moment. maybe it should have more of a flow chart. start here - if you have trouble go here. maybe take me to an article wizard and let me opt out of it.
  • drawing board, user space, a lot of different names here and it sounds like it's wiki jargon.
  • if i have to learn the interface than i'm less interested in spending time writing the article.
  • i would use this safe place, then add it to the real world.
  • big white box that tells me where to type.
  • completes minor edit etc before she types.
  • goes through each feature before saving page.
  • reads all instructions and all elements on the page
  • i would want to give the introduction
  • makes bold
  • hover over
  • "not a clear icon to me"
  • now that's bold, i would assume
  • now i would
  • link - puts in link using "wiki text" says it's wrong (needs to have something
  • finds difference - internal link.
  • goes back to check behavior
  • it would be good to know that before i get there. maybe it has to send a query first.
  • creates a table with no problems.
  • that's, like, not real friendly
  • that did what i expected it to do, but it took me two steps to get there.
  • for a short article that would be good. for a longer article it wouldn't be good.
  • where the seals are? or images?
  • "OH BOY!" when she sees a template
  • i think they're discouraging people from editing. just because this - WOW.
  • trying to find my way through here. please don't edit this page, go to the daughter page.
  • all of this stuff down here i don't understand. i don't know what transcluded means. it's a link so maybe it'll tell me. included by reference.
  • this is the danger.
  • i'm intimidated by this.
  • she uses main search to search within the page. does not see search and find and uses browser find.
  • would have been nice to have some kind of search function.
  • would be nice to do it on the fly.
  • that whole editing thing could have been easier!

Nimish's hilights

  • doesn't know if stub article might already exist, concern with duplicating other's work
  • search article contents vs titles confusing
  • starting a page full of too much information, confusing
  • terminologly: user space, sandbox, drawing board
    • scared "put it(page) in a safe place"
  • "I think they're discouraging people from editing"
  • "transcluded" -> didn't know what this means
  • "how to search within the page?" -> NTOC still not specific enough
