Talk:Opinion Language Links

interwiki links

Hello,

First sorry for my English. I heared in the dutch village pump that input was welcome here. Earlier this day a relative (reader of the wiki never writes) of mine asked me why the english wiki had another look. So i told him that this look also would soon be on the dutch wiki. Spontaneously he said that he thought hiding the language links wasn't a good idea. (a lot of people here in the netherlands use the dutch wiki as a start to read the larger articles on en-wiki). He also asked me why he had to see all these languages he didn't know and if it isn't possible to just show him en-wiki as a link above all the others.

Next to this in my opinion it would be a good idea to show a few links people use the most; 5 most used as default. I don't know if it's possible to find out which links are mainly used by an user, but if that's not possible it would maybe be an idea to set some default settings per language (in dutch this could be English, German, French, Latin, Spanish for example). And/or that people could select in their settings 5 (or more) links they want to see before all the other links (whether all the other links are behind an arrow or doesn't really matter i think). Computers which automaticly do things because they think that's how you want it should be able to be corrected manual.
