Usability, Experience, and Evaluation Study/Notes/Keith

From Wikimedia Usability Initiative

Parul's Notes

  • Usability 2
  • didn't notice that preview at first
  • plays with NTOC by editing the section name. "i should have previewed first" let me go do that. 9:28am
  • copies and pastes a link from above - sees examples and doesn't use the toolbar (not a bad thing)
  • general impressions - learned new things i didn't know before.
  • used to be local - tampa,fl, but moved away.
  • easy to go to brockton and get the facts - more undisputable than alex jones.
  • find stuff - didn't have any idea where it was
  • research on research. it's not something that can be undertaken lightly. some kind of reason to make sure it was done right - not just because i care about it. keep myself in business and can't drop everything. need the passion to do the job.
  • keep expanding the truth.

Nimish's and Hannes's Notes

  • previous experience: facebook,yelp,etc
  • Didn't see top level edit, assumed section edit "where I'd put it"
  • trys to login as "user billy 1"
  • didn't use the preview mode initially, just publish
  • understood the ntoc intuitively
  • copy and paste link
  • doesn't see where the text got inserted...MAKE BRIGHTER
  • footnotes: "It would be in the references"
  • expects tools in the toolbox
  • expects forum
  • "It isn't my intent to go out and edit everything"
  • opened form immediately rather than arrow
  • Leans heavily on section edit
  • "pretty cool"

Insert External Link:

  • Inserts Link with Copy/Paste a different Link, than changing

Insert Intern Link:

  • Searches Left Nav for some help to insert an external link
  • Clicks on "What links here" expects help there
  • misinterpretates the ref-tag as "hyperlink"
  • selects the ref-tag, clicks on insert link icon (gets invalid link)

Edit and section edit

  • Doesn't see the main edit link
  • depends on section edit links
  • therefor he cannot edit the first section
